CHARLESTON, Ill. – Striving to build on two Ohio Valley Conference championships the last two years, head coach Jim Schmitz has announced Eastern Illinois baseball’s seven-player recruiting class set to join the program for the 2011 season.

Stetson head baseball coach Pete Dunn has announced the dates for the annual Hatter Series. The seven-game series will run from November 16-21 on Melching Field. This intersquad event traditionally signals the end of the fall baseball season. The Stetson seniors are divided into two teams. The seniors will then get together and create a draft to fill out the rosters for each team.

Utah signs Eight for 2011
SALT LAKE CITY – Utah head coach Bill Kinneberg announced the signing of eight student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Five high school players and three junior college transfers will join the Utes next season. Coming from high school are Trey Nielsen (3B, Skyline HS, Utah), Cory Hunt (2B, Jordan HS, Utah), Ben Mordini (RHP, Cherry Creek HS, Colo.), Luke West (RHP, Juan Diego Catholic HS, Utah), Josh Alexander (OF, Mountain Pointe HS, Arizona) while James Brooks (SS/Utility, Cochise College, Arizona), Derek Christensen (RHP, SLCC, Utah) and Dustin Hobbs (RHP/Yavapai College) are the junior college transfers.

Share Nebraska head coach Mike Anderson has released the 2010 slate for his Cornhuskers. The Huskers finished a disappointing last place in the Big 12 last year but are looking to get back to being a mainstay at the College World Series like they were at the start of the decade.
The Huskers will begin the 2010 season on the West Coast, as they travel to California to take on Fresno State (Feb. 19-22) in a four game set. Nebraska will then visit Houston, Texas, to take part in the Rice Invitational (Feb. 26-28) where they will play games against Texas A&M Corpus Christi, host Rice, and Elon.

OMAHA, Neb. – The American Baseball Coaches Association announced the ABCA/Rawlings Sporting Goods All-American teams on Wednesday, June 17.
Among the First Team honorees are six players participating in this year’s College World Series including Arizona State starting pitcher Mike Leake, LSU starting pitcher Louis Coleman, Arizona State catcher Carlos Ramirez, UNC first baseman Dustin Ackley, ASU outfielder Jason Kipnis and Virginia utility player Danny Hultzen. SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Freshman Jeff Medley (Greensboro, N.C./Southeast Guilford) went 5-for-8 with four RBI in the USC Upstate baseball team’s Atlantic Sun Conference doubleheader against Stetson on Saturday afternoon at Harley Park, but the Hatters used 35 hits to post 12-4 and 18-9 wins over the Spartans.

Here is your ACC recap for Febraury 20th. We saw the North Carolina Tar Heels jump off to a great start to the season with a 13-3 victory over VMI. The ACC had a strong day which saw them win 9 games while dropping only three games.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Garrett Gore and Mark Fleury each drove in three runs as No. 1 North Carolina broke open a tight game with a six-run fifth inning to claim a 13-3 win over VMI Friday at Bryson Field at Boshamer Stadium. Share I will be covering the ACC in depth this season with weekly previews of the weekend ahead. I believe that the ACC is one of the premier conferences in the country even though no team in the conference has won the national championship since 1955 when Wake Forest grabbed the title. The ACC is expected to be won by the North Carolina Tar Heels who are led by two of the best pitchers in the conference with Alex White and Matt Harvey. MACON, Ga. – In each of its first three years in the Atlantic Sun, Kennesaw State has improved its standing and on the heels of its runner-up finish in 2008, the A-Sun coaches have installed the Owls as the preseason favorite, the conference office announced on Thursday.
Led by the Preseason Pitcher of the Year, Kyle Heckathorn, the Owls received six of the 11 first-place votes outdistancing themselves from a bunched pack of Lipscomb, the 2008 conference champion, FGCU, the 2008 regular-season champion and Stetson.
