Blake captures Player of the Week honors after leading SDSU with a .611 average in a four-game series win over IPFW. The sophomore had 11 hits, seven doubles, six runs, six RBI and a home run. He also drew one walk and only struck out once in 18 at-bats. Blake doubled in every game against the Mastodons, including hitting two doubles in each of the last three contests. MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released the Pro-Line Athletic National Player of the Week awards for the period ending April 26, today. UCF junior second baseman Shane Brown and South Dakota State sophomore infielder Jesse Sawyer were named National Co-Hitters of the Week, while Northeastern sophomore left-handed pitcher J.T. Ross was named National Pitcher of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season. Sawyer earns Player of the Week honors after leading SDSU to a 7-1 record, including a four-game sweep of WIU. He homered in six of the eight games and hit safely in all eight. For the week, Sawyer had a .500 average, scored 19 runs, had 15 RBI, 14 hits, nine home runs and two doubles. He also walked seven times, had a 1.536 slugging percentage and .641 on-base percentage. The East Texas Pump Jacks today announced the signing of members of the Louisiana-Lafayette baseball team, as well as a pitcher from Centenary College.
Joining the Pump Jacks are infielder Greg Fontenot and pitcher Patrick Holloway, both Ragin’ Cajuns. Also coming to East Texas is Centenary sophomore Stephen Tromblee.

Metcalf collects Player of the Week honors after belting three home runs in two games against Kansas last week. The senior also had a 1.273 slugging percentage, four runs and four RBI, along with extending his hitting streak to nine games. His .455 average on the week raised his average on the season to .328. Share The Oklahoma State Cowboys blew out the Western Illinois Leathernecks 30-3 in Game 1 of a doubleheader. The Oklahoma State coaching staff only made two substitutions in the starting lineup as they continued to pound on the Leathernecks with a 18-3 score after five innings. WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — The University of Northern Iowa baseball team matched a school record for runs scored in a 28-17 rout of Indiana Monday afternoon at Chain O’Lakes Park.
Travis Bennett, James Dinizo and Levi Ferguson each tallied five hits to help the Panthers finish with 28 hits. Dinizo also finished with six RBIs and four runs scored, and Bennett finished with five RBIs and five runs scored. The Centenary College Baseball team picked up a 8-3 victory on Tuesday night over number 24 ranked Arkansas. They received a great start from Boone Whiting who allowed five hits and three runs in 7.1 innings of work while two way player Brett Eibner struggled in his 1.2 inning start as he allowed three runs. The Kansas State Wildcats also picked up an upset by beating the Arizona State Sun Devils 6-2. Jason King led the Wildcats offense by going 3 for 3 with a huge three run homer in the eigthth inning.
