Share The Coppin State Eagles have released their 2010 baseball schedule. The Eagles will begin the season with a seven game road trip with stops at Longwood (Feb. 19-20), George Washington (Feb. 26-27), and Navy (March 3). They will then return home for seventeen straight home contests including weekend series against Iona (March 6-7), Lehigh (March 12-13), Maryland Eastern Shore (March 27-28), and Niagara (March 30-31).

Share A pair of freshmen pitchers came up big and the Clemson offense had two breakout games to extend the Clemson Regional to a fourth day.

Top-seeded Clemson needed ninth-inning drama Friday to join Oklahoma State in the winners bracket of the Clemson Regional at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
The Tigers and Cowboys play at 7 p.m. Saturday, after an elimination game between Alabama and Tennessee Tech at 3.

Share The Clemson Tigers will be hosting a 2009 NCAA Regional which features Alabama as the number 2 seed, Oklahoma State as the third seed, and Tennessee Tech as the four seed. The Tigers enter the tournament with a 40-19 overall record and finished second in the Atlantic Division of the ACC with a 19-11 record. Alabama on the other hand comes into the tournament with a 37-19 record and went 18-11 in the SEC which was good enough for a third place finish in the Western Division. Oklahoma State enters the tournament as the biggest controversy as they finished the season with a ninth place finish in the Big 12 conference which did not qualify them for the Big 12 Tournament. They have an overall record of 32-22 and finished the Big 12 season with a 9-16 record. Tennessee Tech makes the NCAA Tournament after an extra-inning victory over Jacksonville State to win the Ohio Valley Conference. They currently have a 30-22-1 record after going 10-11-1 record. BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — For the second year in a row, Jacksonville State has been picked as the preseason favorite for the nine-team league in a vote of Ohio Valley Conference head baseball coaches. Kendall Rogers has written a great article about the baseball programs in the state of Tennessee. He ranks all the schools with the Vanderbilt Commodores as the best program but we all know that isn’t a real surprise. Corbin has really developed a solid program in Nashville and keeps bringing in some great recruits.The University of Tennessee comes in at the runners up spot under second year head coach Todd Raleigh. NASHVILLE – In a vote of Ohio Valley Conference head baseball coaches, Jacksonville State was picked as the 2008 preseason favorite in the 10-team league. The Gamecocks finished second in both the regular season and tournament last season. In additional voting, JSU senior outfielder Clay Whittemore was picked as the Preseason Player of the Year while Eastern Kentucky junior left-handed pitcher Christian Friedrich was named the Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
