(TOKYO) – Japan took advantage of back-to-back errors in the bottom of the 11th inning to clinch the 37th Annual USA vs. Japan Collegiate Championships with an 8-7 victory at Jingu Stadium.
With the game tied at seven, pitcher Sonny Gray’s (Vanderbilt) errant pickoff attempt moved Shota Kioke to third base with two outs. (TSURUOKA, Japan) – Team Japan struck out 14 U.S. batters and Team USA stranded 16 runners on base as it fell to Japan 8-3 in game four of the 37th Annual USA vs. Japan Collegiate Championships in Tsuruoka, Japan.

(SENDAI, Japan) – Sonny Gray (Vanderbilt) pitched five and a third innings of scoreless relief and Christian Colon (Cal State Fullerton) hit a three-run home run in the fourth to lead Team USA to an 8-4 victory over Japan in game three of the 37th Annual USA vs. Japan Collegiate Championships.
Team Japan scored three runs in the top of the first inning on USA starter Cody Wheeler (Coastal Carolina). Takahiro Araki hit an RBI triple to score the first run of the game and Masayoshi Kato followed with a two-RBI triple to put Team Japan up 3-0 after the first inning. Read the rest of this entry »

(CHIBA, JAPAN) – Team USA (11-1) committed three errors and left eight runners on base in a 7-1 exhibition loss to Budo University, Friday, in Chiba, Japan. The loss was the first by the U.S. this summer and it snapped a 35-game winning streak for the National Team dating back to last season.
Tyler Holt (Florida State) reached second base on an error by the left fielder to begin the game and later scored Team USA’s lone run on an RBI groundout by Blake Forsythe (Tennessee) in the bottom of the first inning. Read the rest of this entry »

Bourne lefty Bryan Morgado (Tennessee) has been named Coca-Cola Pitcher of the Week, joining fellow Brave Eric Cantrell (George Washington), who won the award the first week of the season. The roster is headlined by shortstop and 2008 National Team member Christian Colon (Cal State Fullerton; Capey, Puerto Rico), and consists of five outfielders, six infielders, 10 pitchers, and one utility player. (CARY, N.C.) – Christian Colon (Cal State Fullerton) went 3-4 with a solo home run and three RBI for the Blue Team in its 6-1 victory over the Red Team, Tuesday, at the USA Baseball National Team (Collegiate) Trials in Cary, N.C.
Christian Colon (Cal State Fullerton) scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning when he lifted a ball over the left-field fence on White Team starter T.J. Walz (Kansas). His homer put the Blue Team ahead 1-0 early in the contest. Read the rest of this entry »
