Rutgers Baseball Announces 2010-2011 Recruiting Class

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (November 19, 2009) – Rutgers head baseball coach Fred Hill has announced the signing of seven scholastic standouts to National Letters of Intent.

The group includes infielder Nick Favatella (Washington Township, N.J.), outfielders Joseph D’Annunzio (Scotch Plains, N.J.) and Brian O’Grady (Warminster, Pa.), catcher Michael Zavala (Randolph, N.J.) and pitchers Charlie Lasky (Freehold, N.J.), Slater McCue (Radnor, Pa.) and Andrew Sullivan (Monroe, N.J.).

Wichita State signs Seven for 2011

WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State has received a national letter-of-intent from seven baseball players in the early signing period, Head Coach Gene Stephenson announced Nov. 17.

Bob Arens, a catcher from Northwest High School in Wichita, Kan.; Zach Beringer, a right-handed pitcher form Harrisburg High School in Harrisburg, Mo.; Cale Elam, a right-handed pitcher and infielder from Oktaha High School in Oktaha, Okla.; Kris Gardner, a left-handed pitcher from Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano, Texas; Josh Halbert, an infielder from Choctaw High School in Choctaw, Okla.; Albert Minnis, a left-handed pitcher from Lawrence High School in Lawrence, Kan.; and Dayne Parker, a shortstop from Roff High School in Roff, Okla., have signed national letters-of-intent with the Shockers.

025efu07 COLLEGE STATION, Texas – A 24-game, season-opening homestand and matchups with 12 NCAA Tournament teams highlight the 2010 Texas A&M baseball schedule, announced Tuesday by head coach Rob Childress.

The Aggies will play 40 of their 56 games at the friendly confines of Olsen Field, where they have won 95 games over the last three seasons. In addition, half of A&M’s games in 2010 will be against opponents who will be coming off trips to the NCAA Tournament.

"This is another rugged and challenging schedule, and it’s one I know our players, staff and fans alike will be excited about," Childress said.

raley-300x199 Kendall Rogers of Rivals.com has put out his biggest surprises from the MLB signing deadline on Monday evening. His two biggest surprises that signed are Texas A&M two-way player Brooks Raley and Rice RHP Ryan Berry. Each of them fought through issues during the 2009 season with Raley tiring at the end of the season while Berry was injured during the season which dropped his stock. He also goes over some of the biggest surprises that came back to school with LSU’s Blake Dean and Arizona State’s Josh Spence.

Hinojosa, Juengel and Varner Earn Week 8 Honors

Hinojosa used the week to demonstrate his prowess both at the plate and on the mound. He batted .333 with two home runs, vaulting himself into a tie for the league lead in homers. The two-way star also picked up a pair of saves as the Bombers’ closer, grabbing a share of the TCL lead in that category as well. The sophomore starred at Texarkana College last spring and will be headed to Texas A&M in the fall.
