Texas Christian University hosts the 2009 Fort Worth Regional in what looks like one of the more wide open regionals of the tournament. The Horned Frogs meet the Wright State Raiders at 7 p.m. CT on Friday. The two teams take the field after game one of the tournament which will see the two seed Texas A&M Aggies take on the three seed Oregon State Beavers at 2 p.m. CT.
Play will continue on Saturday with the first elimination game scheduled for 2 p.m. CT, followed by the winner’s bracket championship game at 7 p.m. CT. The 2 p.m. game on Sunday will be the loser’s bracket championship game, and the 7 p.m. CT game will be the first championship contest. Read the rest of this entry »

OKLAHOMA CITY — Shaver Hansen was 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI, leading Baylor to an 8-4 victory over Kansas in Saturday’s pool-play action at the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship at Bricktown Ballpark. (Victoria, Tx) The Victoria Generals of the Texas Collegiate League are excited to have Willie Kempf in their rotation for the summer. Willie was the 2009 Captain for The Baylor Bears. Last summer he was named to the Cape Cod League all-star squad. This spring Willie was the number 2 pitcher for the Bears with a 4-3 record and a 5.62 era. He struck out 45 in 41 innings while walking only 22.
Willie is a 6 foot 185 pound right handed pitcher who has just completed his junior year. Five times he has been named to the Big 12 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Read the rest of this entry »

The best of the Big 12 will be showcasing their skills in Oklahoma City this week. While some teams are comfortably in the NCAA tournament field, other teams need to impress at Bricktown Ballpark to secure their bids. Texas, the regular season conference champion, enters the tournament as winners of nine of their last ten games. Oklahoma makes the twenty five mile drive up I-35 as the 2 seed with ideas of winning a conference tournament championship and locking up a regional host bid. Missouri enters the tournament as the 3 seed, having won eight of their last ten games. IRVING, Texas—J.T. Wise (Oklahoma) and A.J. Morris (Kansas State) highlight the 2009 Phillips 66 All-Big 12 Baseball Awards as Big 12 Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, it was announced on Tuesday. Kansas’ David Narodowski has been named the top newcomer, while Garrett Buechele (Oklahoma) is the Freshman of the Year. Brad Hill of Kansas State has earned Coach of the Year accolades.
