Was this the game that turns Texas season around? Could this jump start them to the Tournament?? The verdict is still out them but, this was a game in the right direction for Texas. Everything Texas did went their way in this non-conference game against Texas State. Texas State came into the game batting .336 as a team but, Kenn was entertaining other ideas on the out come of this game. Kasparek threw 113 pitches with 9 strike outs 12 ground ball outs and that would just leave 6 fly balls for the outfield. The tempo of the game started in the first inning when SS David Hernandez went deep into the hole to take away a hit threw out the lead off batter at first. FRISCO, Texas – The Southland Conference Baseball players of the week were named today by the conference office as Texas State infielder Thomas Field, south paws Marc Picca of UT Arlington and Kris Ruepke of UTSA claimed pitcher of the week honors. Field is awarded his first honor of the season and team’s second. Ruepke is the fifth Roadrunner to garner weekly accolades marking the team’s fourth straight award, leading the conference. Picca joins teammate Nathan Long as the only Mavericks awarded weekly honors.

FRISCO, Texas – The Southland Conference Baseball players of the week were named today by the conference office as senior 1B Trent Lockwood, Northwestern State senior 1B Mike Jaworski and Texas State senior right hander Steven Siers are awarded weekly honors. Lockwood and Jaworski each claim their second honor of the season tying for the league lead. Siers earns his first and team’s first for Texas State. UTSA leads the total team count with four awards on the year with three consecutive.
