The following is a scouting report on the Texas Tech Red Raiders from Aman Reaka who watched them play against Kansas on April 11th-13th. We will continue to bring you scouting looks at certain teams throughout the season.
JR Roger Kieschnick 6′3, 215, RF
Kieschnick is a stud hitter with plus power who should be a first round pick in June. He is a true and legitimate power hitting prospect. He played for Team USA and even tied Pedro Alvarez for the team lead in HR’s. He is hitting .307 with 11 HR, 36 RBI, 10 Doubles, 21 K’s and 26 walks. I will be watching his stance and swing mechanics really close to see if he has many holes in his swing. Read the rest of this entry »

Chase Daniel was able to lead a comeback over the University of Texas 31-12. Texas Jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead but Texas could not hold on to it. Chase directed two scoring drives to take a 10-9 lead and never looked back.
OK, now that the fun is over. Texas was able to break Aaron Crow scoreless streak in the First inning but was not able to maintain the momentum as the TIgers jumped all over Austin Wood and the UT pitching staff to the most runs ever given up by the staff. I think Priday is still circling the bases.

FROM PRESS RELEASE
Johnny Dorn allowed one hit over 7.1 innings while Cody Neer and Jake Opitz drove in two runs apiece, leading No. 9 Nebraska to a 6-2 victory over Texas Tech Friday evening at Hawks Field.
Dorn (4-0) was the story, as the senior right-hander struck out 10 and allowing one hit, a solo homer to Doug Thennis in the fifth, to pick up his fourth win in five career starts against the Red Raiders. It marked the fifth time that Dorn had struck out at least 10 hitters and the second time in 2008 that Dorn had reached double figures

FROM PRESS RELEASE
LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech Head Baseball Coach Larry Hays became just the fourth coach in NCAA history to reach 1,500 wins in a career as his Red Raiders notched a 10-5 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday afternoon that completed a two-game sweep of the Islanders at Dan Law Field.
Hays, the winningest coach in school history, joins elite company with today’s historic win as only Texas’ Augie Garrido, Wichita State’s Gene Stephenson and Florida State’s Mike Martin are the only coaches to reach this milestone. Hays is in his 38th season as a head coach and all 38 of those years have been spent in Lubbock as he led the Lubbock Christian Chaparrals for 16 years and has guided the Red Raiders for 22 seasons. Against Texas on March 21, 2008, he picked up the 800th win of his Texas Tech career and now has 805 victories as the Red Raider skipper.
