Share After all the dust settled on the 2009 College Baseball season, we only have two teams standing with the LSU Tigers taking on the Texas Longhorns in the College World Series Championship Series. The LSU Tigers enter with a record of 54-16 while being on a 13 game postseason winning streak dating back to the SEC Tourney. Texas enters with a 49-14-1 record while being 8-1 in NCAA Tourney play with the only loss coming to TCU in the Super Regionals. Read the rest of this entry »

OMAHA, Neb. – Catcher Cameron Rupp and center fielder Connor Rowe hit solo home runs in the bottom of the ninth to give Texas a 4-3, walk-off win over Arizona State before a crowd of 23,257 Friday night at Rosenblatt Stadium.
The Longhorns, making their 32nd College World Series appearance in school history, improve to 8-1 in the NCAA Tournament and 49-14-1 on the season. Top-seeded Texas will now face third-seeded LSU in the best two-of-three Championship Finals, which begin Monday at 6 p.m. CT. Read the rest of this entry »

As most of my readers know, I just got back from the College World Series and one of the biggest stories in Omaha is how Texas is winning all their games. The Longhorns throughout the NCAA Tournament have been winning games in many different ways from grabbing a 25 inning win, winning on a walk-off walk against Southern Miss, and coming back from a 6-0 deficit against Arizona State. We all know that teams have good luck and it can carry them to the Championship and I think that could be happening right now to the Longhorns. Read the rest of this entry »

The Texas Longhorns and Arizona State Sun Devils faced off in the nightcap on Day 4 of the College World Series. The Longhorns entered with a 47-14-1 record while the Sun Devils have a 50-12 record. Both teams entered the game with 1-0 records in the College World Series with Texas picking up a 7-6 win over Southern Miss while Arizona State defeated North Carolina 5-2 in ten innings. Each squad would send their ace to the hill with Texas throwing Chance Ruffin who is 10-2 with a 3.02 ERA in 22 appearance (16 starts) while Arizona State put Mike Leake to the hill with a 16-1 record and an ERA of 1.36 in 17 appearances (16 starts). The Texas Longhorns and Southern Miss Golden Eagles faced off in the nightcap on Sunday evening. Texas entered the game with a 46-14-1 record while Southern Miss entered with a 40-24 mark. The Longhorns sent Sophomore RHP Cole Green to the hill with his 5-3 record in 18 appearances (17 starts) while compiling an ERA of 3.02. Southern Miss started Todd McInnis who won the 2009 C-USA Pitcher of the Year award. He is 9-4 with a 3.61 ERA in 18 appearances (17 starts). Read the rest of this entry »
