AaronRembert ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Head Baseball Coach Tom Smith has announced the hiring of former Bulldog pitcher Aaron Rembert as an assistant coach upon approval of the Board of Trustees. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon.

Rembert has served as the top assistant coach at nearby Mars Hill College for the past four years. He was one of the best pitchers to ever pitch at UNC Asheville as he was a member of the Bulldog program from 2000-2004.

Here is your ACC recap for Febraury 20th. We saw the North Carolina Tar Heels jump off to a great start to the season with a 13-3 victory over VMI. The ACC had a strong day which saw them win 9 games while dropping only three games.

I will be covering the ACC in depth this season with weekly previews of the weekend ahead. I believe that the ACC is one of the premier conferences in the country even though no team in the conference has won the national championship since 1955 when Wake Forest grabbed the title. The ACC is expected to be won by the North Carolina Tar Heels who are led by two of the best pitchers in the conference with Alex White and Matt Harvey. CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Coastal Carolina University’s baseball team has been voted the Big South Conference’s preseason favorite by the League’s Head Baseball Coaches, it was announced today by the Conference office. In addition, the coaches voted Radford senior infielder Alex Gregory (Great Falls, Va.) the Conference’s Preseason Player of the Year and Coastal Carolina junior Nick McCully (Lakeland, Fla.) the League’s Preseason Pitcher of the Year.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Nine games at McCormick Field, a two-game series at national power Florida State and hosting the Big South Conference Baseball Tournament are the highlights of the 2009 UNC Asheville baseball schedule. The 56-game schedule was announced today by head coach Willie Stewart.
