William and Mary 9 Delaware 4

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Senior Paul Juliano hit a grand slam in the seventh inning to help William and Mary earn a 9-4 victory against Delaware on a cold and rainy afternoon at Plumeri Park on Sunday. With the triumph, W&M claimed the series against UD and improves its record to 18-10 overall and 9-6 in conference play.

In addition to the grand slam, Juliano went 2-for-2 with five RBI. The Northfield, N.J., native also drew three walks as he reached base in all five of his trips to the plate. Columbia, S.C. - Freshman right-handed pitcher Sam Dyson struck out eight batters in a career-high seven innings and Reese Havens hit his seventh home run of the year as South Carolina defeated College of Charleston 5-3 on Wednesday evening at Sarge Frye Field. The Gamecocks improve to 16-6 on the year while the loss drops College of Charleston to 16-8. LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A rally by the University of Louisville baseball team fell short Wednesday, as the No. 30 Tennessee Volunteers edged the Cardinals 7-6 on a chilly evening at Jim Patterson Stadium.

For the first time this season, Louisville (9-6) has lost consecutive games.

FULLERTON, Calif. - The 21st-ranked University of San Diego baseball team scored four unanswered runs in picking up a 6-2 win over No. 16 Cal State Fullerton Tuesday evening in a non-conference game at Goodwin Field.

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Sophomore Jay Honeycutt was 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs for the Davidson baseball team, but Virginia Tech used a six-run eighth inning to post a 14-10 victory over the Wildcats at Wilson Field Wednesday afternoon.

FORT WORTH, Texas (Feb. 26, 2008) - A pair of three-run innings and outstanding pitching led the TCU Horned Frogs to a 6-1 victory over Dallas Baptist Tuesday night at Lupton Stadium. I will check in as often as I can throughout the year to bring our loyal readers some highlights from various games across the country. Our first installment is below.

We had one of the best games in recent memory between Rice and Long Beach State last night which was won by the Dirtbags 1-0 in ten innings. Rice pitcher Ryan Berry went seven strong innings while allowing five hits and striking out eight batters. Long Beach starter Andrew Liebel outpitched Berry as he lasted eight innings also only five hits and one walk while striking out 11 batters. Read the rest of this entry »

The Richmond Spiders have released their 2008 schedule which is highlighted by 28 home games. The Spiders open the 2008 season on February 22nd when they take part in a tournament hosted by Jacksonville which also includes UNC-Wilmington, UW-Milwaukee, and the host Dolphins. They will play 13 games against seven 2007 NCAA participants. The full schedule is available here.

Team USA played their final game in the United States on Monday against Russia where they picked up a 6-0 victory. The Russian team was able to hold Team USA to only four hits but gave up eight walks with three errors. Scott Gorgen (UC-Irvine) started for Team USA and went 4.2 innings while giving up three hits and struck out eight batters to pick up his first victory with the team. Seth Frankoff (UNC-Wilmington) relieved Gorgen and provided 3.1 shutout innings with five strikeouts and one hit allowed. Team USA is now off until August 2nd when they play Japan in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Team USA announced today that UC-Irvine pitcher Scott Gorgen, NC State pitcher Eric Surkamp, UNC-Wilmington pitcher Seth Frankoff, and Tyler Stovall from Hokes Bluff (HS) have joined the team starting on Friday when the team completes their series against China. They replace Brian Matusz, Jacob Thompson, and Lance Lynn who have all left the team to rest their arms until the next college season.
