ULM Baseball Opens Practice
MONROE, La.—The defending Sun Belt Conference Champion ULM baseball team opened up practice for the 2009 season on Sunday afternoon. Preseason camp will continue until the Warhawks open the season on Feb. 20 against Northwestern State.
The Warhawks spent the first day of practice working on fielding drills before the pitchers and hitters squared off against each other for the first time since the fall.

TAMPA, Fla. – Despite chilling temperatures, the University of South Florida baseball team hit the field for an hour Tuesday afternoon in a warmup for the quickly approaching first day of spring practice.
“The first day of practice is always exciting,” said USF Head Coach Lelo Prado. “We’re only out here today for an hour, but all of the guys are jumping around and are excited for the season.”

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Louisville, the 2008 BIG EAST tournament champion, has been unanimously chosen as the favorite to win the 2009 conference championship by the 12 BIG EAST head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own teams. In addition, Louisville swept both 2009 preseason individual honors. Junior third baseman Chris Dominguez was honored as Preseason Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, while junior Justin Marks was unanimously selected as Preseason Pitcher of the Year.

Alabama 12 Mississippi Valley State 4
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Junior outfielder Tyler Odle went 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and scored five runs in leading Alabama to a 12-4 win over Mississippi Valley State Tuesday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
Odle is the first Alabama player to score five runs in a game since Casey Lambert scored five runs in the Crimson Tide’s 26-7 win at Kentucky on March 18, 2001. Odle was hit by a pitch and scored in the first inning and slammed his first home run of the season in the third inning to give the Tide a 2-0 lead. TAMPA, Fla. – The University of South Florida baseball team dropped the third game of their first BIG EAST Conference series, 3-2, to the Seton Hall Pirates Sunday afternoon at Red McEwen Field.
The Bulls, who had won their last seven games, fall to 10-6 overall and 2-1 in the BIG EAST Conference.

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of South Florida Bulls ended their two-game skid with a 9-8 victory against the Northwestern Wildcats on Saturday night at Red McEwen Field.
USF improves to 3-2 on the season while the Wildcats drop to 3-3.
