Share Darin Thomas has announced the signings of five incoming recruits
ARLINGTON, Texas – The University of Texas at Arlington head baseball coach Darin Thomas has announced the addition of five incoming student-athletes to his program’s 2009-10 signing class. The Mavericks have received signed National Letters of Intent from Preston Beck (Dallas, Texas), Brody Walker (Robinson, Texas), Sam Hansen (Hewitt, Texas), Logan Bawcom (Granbury, Texas) and Josh Christenson (Humble, Texas).

AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 8 Texas Longhorns demonstrated their offensive firepower with a season-high runs total to defeat the Texas State Bobcats, 12-2, in non-conference baseball action Tuesday night at UFCU Disch-Falk field.
The Longhorns were led offensively by freshman Kevin Lusson who went 4-for-4 and with a walk on the night and scored five runs. Lusson had two doubles and two RBI. All of these numbers were career-highs for the Austin native.

Why Not Me? – Three simple words that made Clay Gould a hero
ARLINGTON, Texas – Six years ago yesterday, the home field of the UT Arlington Mavericks baseball team was re-named after former UT Arlington standout player and coach Clay Gould.
Gould’s name will forever be etched into the UT Arlington baseball program. His No. 8 is one of two jersey numbers that have been retired and the stadium the Mavericks call home was dedicated in his honor on April 26, 2003.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The University of Central Arkansas baseball team put away Texas A&M-Corpus Christi early with a 20-6, seven-inning victory at Chapman Field on Sunday afternoon. The Bears, after blowing leads in the first two games of the series, scored in every inning and posted a season-best 20 hits. UCA improves their record to 18-23 overall and 9-15 in Southland play, while the Islanders fall to 16-29 and 8-16.

Texas State has won its last eight games and Sam Houston State has won seven in a row entering Tuesday’s schedule. Both teams received votes in the NCBWA poll and Texas State, which has a one and a half game lead on both Sam Houston and UT Arlington. Conference play resumes Friday. Texas State plays host to McNeese State and Sam Houston welcomes Southeastern Louisiana. UT Arlington is at Stephen F. Austin. Other league action includes Central Arkansas at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, UTSA at Nicholls State and Northwestern State at Lamar.
