Hadra LEXINGTON, Va.- The VMI baseball program has announced the hiring of Jonathan Hadra, a 2004 VMI graduate, as an assistant coach, skipper Marlin Ikenberry announced on Tuesday. 

Hadra, who spent last season at Bradley, brings five years of coaching experience back to Lexington, where he was a four-year letterman for the Keydets.  Upon his graduation in 2004, Hadra coached with VMI in 2005 before working three years at Western Kentucky under VMI graduate Chris Finwood, where he helped the Hilltoppers to a berth in the 2008 NCAA Regionals after capturing the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.

Head Coach Marlin Ikenberry- VMI

Head coach Marlin Ikenberry and his coaching staff have announced the early signings of eight players to the VMI Baseball Class of 2013. The class includes two sets of high school teammates among the seven players from the Commonwealth of Virginia, while another hails from Pennsylvania. The program’s early signees are Matt Armstead (Newport News, Va./Menchville), Coby Cowgill (Norfolk, Va./Maury), John Garrett (Norfolk, Va./Maury), Erickson Keeton (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond River), Miles McQuaig (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian), Ombri Rivers (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond River), Cory Spangenberg (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights), and Travis Thomas (Spotsylvania, Va./Riverbend).

Gene Salazar- Assistant Coach-UT-Pan Am

The University of Texas at Pan American has narrowed their coaching search to four candidates. The most logical choice would be for Gene Salazar. Gene is currently the assistant coach at UT-Pan Am and has ties in South Texas. Salazar was a 4 year Letterman at St. Edwards University and was also the head Coach there from 1998-2002. St Edwards University is a DIV II school that is located in Austin, Texas. Coach Salazar served as the interim head coach of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball program this past season where he served as the recruiting coordinator in his first three seasons and assisted in all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Islander program.
