CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College baseball team earned its spot in the 2009 ACC Championship with a 3-1 win against No. 4 North Carolina on Thursday at Eddie Pellagrini Diamond at Commander Shea Field.

We enter the final weekend of ACC play with four squads fighting it out for the last two spots in the conference tournament. Boston College and Duke are currently in the drivers seats for the final two spots as each of them would have to get swept over the weekend for either NC State or Virginia Tech to make the tournament. The final weekend sees five ACC series while Florida State steps out of conference with a series against Grambling State. The North Carolina Tar Heels make their second trip to Boston College in a key series for the Eagles. Georgia Tech heads to Duke which is key for both squads as the Yellow Jackets are trying to hold off the North Carolina Tar Heels for the Coastal Division title. The battle of Virginia takes place this weekend in Blacksburg with Virginia Tech hosting the Virginia Cavaliers. The final two series sees Clemson heading to NC State and Miami (FL) heading to Wake Forest. Read the rest of this entry »

RALEIGH, N.C. — Kyle Wilson went 3-for-3 with two home runs and Drew Poulk added a homer as NC State defeated top-ranked North Carolina 9-4 on Sunday at Doak Field at Dail Park to win the ACC weekend series against the Tar Heels.
With the win, the Wolfpack improves to 24-28 overall and 10-17 in ACC play. The loss drops the Tar Heels to 38-13 overall and 17-9 in the ACC. Read the rest of this entry »

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State (35-12) scored early and often Wednesday night in cruising to a 15-5 victory over Florida International (30-19) on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium. The Seminoles tallied 11 runs in the first three innings as every FSU starter registered a hit as it was the first meeting between the two schools since 1991.
