Leary announces 2009 baseball schedule
Lehigh baseball coach Sean Leary announced the 2009 schedule on Thursday, which includes trips up and down the east coast and appearances in the Palm Beach Challenge and the Liberty Bell Classic.
Leary’s squad will spend the first month of the season on the road, traveling to the warmer-weather South throughout the latter parts of February and early March. The Mountain Hawks open up with a trip to Hattiesburg, Miss., where they will play a three-game set with Southern Miss from Feb. 20-22. The opening weekend will be a challenge for The Mountain Hawks, as the Goldan Eagles won 41 games last season, including 25 in Hattiesburg.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - First round draft pick Allan Dykstra signed with the San Diego Padres about an hour before the Friday night deadline for Major League Baseball teams to sign players drafted in the 2008 MLB Draft. Senior Evan Ocheltree and incoming freshmen Austin Stadler and Daniel Marrs did not sign with the teams that drafted them and will play for Wake Forest this upcoming season. 
Due to a mixup by the Boston Red Sox, the ACC Baseball tourney has been removed from Fenway Park after a scheduling mixup between the Boston Red Sox and the Fenway Sports Group. The reason behind this is the fact that the Boston Red Sox gave the wrong dates to Major League Baseball and have scheduled games for that weekend.

Clemson hit three home runs, including a seventh-inning grand slam by Ben Paulsen, to defeat #24 Georgia Tech 10-4 on Saturday in the ACC Tournament at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. The Tigers, who were 1-2 in the ACC Tournament, improved to 31-27-1, while the Yellow Jackets, who were also 1-2 in the ACC Tourney, fell to 39-19. 
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Virginia earned its second-consecutive win over a top-5 team Friday, as the Cavaliers defeated No. 3 Florida State, 5-3, at the 2008 ACC Baseball Championship at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. The win came two nights after Virginia upset No. 1 North Carolina, 8-7 in extra innings.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Georgia Tech scored eight runs over the last three innings, including two runs without the benefit of a base hit in the top of the ninth, for a wild and entertaining 10-9 win over NC State in the opening game of the 2008 ACC Baseball Tournament at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. 
The ACC Tourney starts up tomorrow with the league split into two pools with four teams in each one. Pool A has Miami (FL), Clemson, NC State, and Ga Tech in it while Pool B has FSU, Wake Forest, UNC, and Virginia. I believe that Miami (FL) will meet UNC in the Finals. 
GREENSBORO, N.C. - A pair of league schools from the Sunshine State highlight the 2008 Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Championship field, as No. 1 seed Miami and No. 2 seed Florida State prepare to battle with six other schools for the coveted championship crown at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Fla., this week.
CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Tim Federowicz went 2-for-5 with three RBI and then recorded the game-ending strikeout with the tying run on third base to lift No. 2 North Carolina to a 12-11 win over No. 1 Miami and a series victory Saturday at Mark Light Field. Behind a home run and five RBI from Tim Fedroff and four hits and two RBI from Kyle Shelton, the Tar Heels (45-10, 22-7 ACC) built an eight-run lead through five innings and held off a late rally by the Hurricanes (43-8, 23-5) to win their third straight series against UM. 
CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Center fielder Seth Williams jump-started North Carolina’s offense with a pair of early run-scoring doubles, and the No. 2 Tar Heels held on for a 10-6 win over No. 1 Miami Friday at Mark Light Field. Dustin Ackley, Tim Fedroff and Kyle Seager each had three hits as Carolina (44-10, 21-7 ACC) pounded out 16 hits to even the series at a game apiece. 
CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Freshman left-handed pitcher Chris Hernandez won for the 10th time with a seven-strikeout performance in 7 2/3 innings and junior first baseman Yonder Alonso hit his second career grand slam - which also was the second one against a team ranked No. 2 - as No. 1 Miami (43-6, 23-3 ACC) cruised to a 12-2 win over the second-ranked Tar Heels (43-10, 20-7 ACC) Thursday night to win the Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division. Jemile Weeks and Dave DiNatale each added two hits for Miami, which snapped a four-game losing streak to the Tar Heels.
