CARY, N.C. - North Carolina took a 6-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning and never looked back as they dispatched Coastal Carolina by a final score of 14-4. UNC led Coastal Carolina 12-0 before Coastal Carolina was able to finally get on the board in the bottom of the seventh, scoring four runs. UNC will take on the winner of the UC-Irvine/LSU Super Regional.
TALLAHASSEE, FL - The Seminoles advanced to Omaha behind an 11-4 victory over Wichita State. After dropping the first game of the series 10-7, Florida State bounced back to take games two and three and advance to their 19th College World Series but first CWS appearance since 2000. Florida State will take on Stanford in the opening game.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Junior pitcher Matt Fairel matched a career-high eight innings while striking out six allowing four runs and walking zero to lead Florida State to a 14-4 victory over Wichita State to force a third and deciding game in the Tallahassee Super Regional on Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium. Fairel threw a career high 124 pitches in holding the Shockers to one run in his final seven innings pitched and retiring 21 of the last 26 batters he faced in improving his record to 12-2
The victory by the Seminoles tied the best of three game series at one game each. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Rob Musgrave pitched 5.2 innings and Conor Gillaspie hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning to lead Wichita State to a 10-7 victory over Florida State in the first game of the Tallahassee Super Regional on Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium. The win moves the Shockers to within one victory of advancing to the College World Series for the first time since 1996 and for the eighth time in school history.
The Shockers and the Seminoles will play the second game of the series Saturday at Noon. The best two-out-of-three series will finish on Sunday should the Seminoles force a third game.
Musgrave improved his record to 12-1 as he allowed five runs (four earned) on nine hits while striking out five. He threw 120 pitches as the temperature on the field surpassed the 100 degree mark. Anthony Capra got the final out of the game to record his first save of the season.
The Seminoles made the game interesting in the bottom of the ninth as they drew to within 10-7 with the trying run at the plate. Pinch hitter Jack Posey struck out to end the game.
The Wichita State Shockers head down to Tallahassee to take on the Florida State Seminoles in a Super Regional showdown between two of the historic programs in College Baseball. The Shockers enter with a 47-15 overall record while going 19-5 in the Missouri Valley conference. The Seminoles on the other hand have a 52-11 record and 24-6 in the ACC. FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 18 TCU Horned Frogs never say die approach in games reared its head as they battled back from an 8-2 deficit with six runs in the last two innings to tie the game. The comeback was not to be, though, as No. 5 Oklahoma State’s Jordy Mercer capped a career-day with his third home run of the game in the bottom of the ninth to give the Cowboys a 9-8 victory in the Stillwater Regional. STILLWATER, Okla. - With the game knotted at five, Bryan Holaday delivered a two-run bases loaded double and the No. 18 TCU Horned Frogs staved off elimination in a 10-5 victory over Western Kentucky Saturday afternoon. Trent Appleby was outstanding in relief, helping the Frogs recover from an early 4-0 deficit. Matt Vern gave TCU a lead it would never relinquish with a third-inning home run.
“Our team, we have this relaxed intensity in the dugout,” said catcher Bryan Holaday. “We don’t press. GAME ONE - #2 WICHITA STATE VS. #3 TCU
The TCU Horned Frogs scored one run in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th innings but it wasn’t enough as the Wichita State Shockers scored three runs in the 3rd, three runs in the 5th and two runs in the eighth to take an 8-5 opening round win.
Rob Musgrave picked up the win for the Shockers pitching a complete game for the win. Tyler Lockwood took the loss for the Horned Frogs surrenduring all eight Shocker runs in seven innings of work.
The Stillwater Regional includes Oklahoma State, Wichita State, Texas Christian and Western Kentucky.
Oklahoma State finished second in the Big 12 Conference regular-season standings and will bring a 42-16 overall record into the tournament. Joining the Cowboys in Stillwater are second-seeded Wichita State, which owns a 44-15 record, along with third-seeded Texas Christian (43-17) and fourth-seeded Western Kentucky (32-25). FROM CBB NEWS SOURCES WICHITA, Kan. - Lefthander Shawn Joy twirled a complete game shutout, as Southern Illinois University (20-16, 4-7) stunned No. 5 Wichita State (29-7, 8-3), 3-0, earlier today at Eck Stadium.

The TCU Horned Frogs withstood a furious two-out rally by No. 30 Baylor Tuesday night to hang for the 4-3 victory at Baylor Ballpark. The victory is the sixth straight for the Horned Frogs and helps them improve to 11-0 in midweek contests this season. Clint Arnold was 4-for-5 at the plate, while Chris Ellington tallied two RBIs. Paul Gerrish was outstanding in relief to earn the victory. (Full Story)
The Wichita State Shockers will head to the University of Kansas on Tuesday for a mid-week showdown between in-state rivals. Kansas heads into the game with a 18-12 record but 1-5 in the Big 12. Wichita State on the other hand is having a strong season like usual with a record of 20-3 while being a perfect 3-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference after sweeping Illinois State a few weeks back. The Shockers will send Tim Kelley to the mound sporting a record of 2-1 with a 5.29 ERA. Kansas will counter with Shaeffer Hall who is 2-1 with a 4.11 ERA. FROM CBB NEWS SOURCES WICHITA, Kan.- Wichita State (11-3) took all three games against TCU (9-8), wrapping up with a 5-1 win Sunday afternoon.
Wichita State scored in the first inning for the ninth time in 14 games. Ryan Jones singled up the middle and Conor Gillaspie brought him around with a double to left field.
The Shockers added a run in both the second and third innings. Kenny Williams, Jr., walked and stole second, allowing him to cross home on a bouncer into center field by Andy Dirks.
