NORMAN, OK- The No. 21 Arkansas Razorback baseball team pounded out a season high 20 hits including three or more from Ben Tschepikow, Scott Lyons, Andy Wilkins and James McCann to remain undefeated in the NCAA Norman Regional with a 17-6 victory over the No. 9 Oklahoma Sooners at L. Dale Mitchell Stadium in Norman, Okla., Saturday night.

The Oklahoma Sooners will host the 2009 Norman Regional at L. Dale Mitchell Park this weekend.  The first game of the regional will be a rematch of opening weekend for Washington State and Arkansas.  It was then that the Razorbacks swept the Cougars at Baum Stadium in Fayetteville.  After Washington State and Arkansas square off in game one at 1 p.m. CT, host Oklahoma will take the field against the fourth seeded Wichita State Shockers at 7 p.m. CT.   The Sooners won both regular season meetings with Wichita State this year by scores of 15-0 and 8-1.

The first elimination game is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. CT and will be followed by the winner’s bracket championship game at 7 p.m. CT.  On Sunday, the 1 p.m. CT game will be for the loser’s bracket championship, and the first championship game will be at 7 p.m. CT.  Read the rest of this entry »

Here are some of the best stories going on right now in College Baseball.

April 15th 2009 will be known for a major upset in Baton Rouge LA where Nicholls State picked up a 3-1 victory over the LSU Tigers. Brayden Drake, Missouri State, 3B, Sr., Webb City, Mo. (Webb City)

Senior Brayden Drake extended his school record hitting streak to 29 games after hitting .611 with three home runs and 14 RBIs in five Missouri State victories. Drake added two doubles for a 1.222 slugging percentage, reached base two-thirds of the time and scored seven runs. He had multiple RBIs in all five games and at least two hits in four contests. Can you believe the weather? 70’s in February! We took full advantage of the fine atmospherics with a great week of practice. Scrimmages began on Saturday and the hitters looked as if they were in mid-season form, the teams combined for 27 hits. Sunday was much more balanced with good pitching and hitting.

ST. LOUIS – Missouri State, which returns a dominating veteran pitching staff and solid depth from last year’s Missouri Valley Conference runner-up squad, has been tabbed as the league favorite in the annual coaches’ preseason poll, receiving eight of nine first place votes.

WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State has received a national letter-of-intent from seven baseball players in the early signing period, Head Coach Gene Stephenson announced Nov. 20.

Nate Goro, an infielder, from Lafayette High School in Lafayette, Mo.; Garrett Gould, a right-handed pitcher from Maize High School in Maize, Kan.; Micah Green, an outfielder from Cherokee Trail High School in Aurora, Colo., Aaron LaBrie, a left-handed pitcher from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, S.D.; Tobin Mateychick, a right-handed pitcher from Enid High School in Enid, Okla., TJ McGreevy, a right-handed pitcher from Hayden High School in Topeka, Kan., and Preston Springer a third baseman from Odessa College in Odessa, Texas, have signed national letters-of-intent with the Shockers.

WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State baseball team will face seven 2008 NCAA postseason teams and five teams ranked in the final 2008 polls in 2009, head coach Gene Stephenson announced Oct. 27.
