GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The 10th-ranked University of Miami baseball team finished off a sweep of No. 12 Florida with a dominant 16-2 win Sunday afternoon in front of 3,038 fans at McKethan Stadium. -Northeastern will hold its annual scrimmage with the Boston Red Sox Saturday at 1 p.m. in Fort Myers. Check out live updates here.
The Huskies will continue their regular season with a doubleheader Sunday against Northwestern in Winter Haven, Fla.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – A two-run home run by Jose Iglesias in the eighth inning, and two Tar Heel errors in the ninth lifted No. 18 Coastal Carolina to a 7-3 win over No. 1 North Carolina Tuesday at Bryson Field at Boshamer Stadium. Share Ten of the eleven CAA teams were in action this weekend in non- conference games. Here’s a quick run down of each team.
-George Mason started the year 4-0 for just the third time in school history. The Patriots competed in the Courtyard by Marriott Baseball Classic in Spartanburg, S.C. Righty Kevin Crum (1-0 0.00) and second baseman Ryan Soares (.500-1-4) were named the all-tournament team.
-UNC Wilmington started the season off with a three game sweep of Maryland at home. Outfielder Grayson Evans (.417) had 7 RBI in the series. Read the rest of this entry »

Share For the first time since 2004, the Colonial Athletic Association sent two teams (James Madison and UNC Wilmington) to the NCAA tournament. Share The 2009 William and Mary seniors will guide the Tribe baseball team through 56 games this spring leading up to the CAA and NCAA Championships.

WILLIAMSBURG – William and Mary baseball coach Frank Leoni announced the Tribe’s 2009 competition schedule today, which features 56 games to prepare W&M for the Colonial Athletic Association and NCAA Tournaments. 35 games are scheduled to be played at Plumeri Park, 33 featuring the Tribe and two which will feature teams in a neutral-site match-up. In total, W&M will have seven games against three teams that made the 2008 NCAA Tournament.

FIU 6 Miami (FL) 3
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.fiusports.com) – It had been four years since FIU had beaten Miami at Mark Light Field and an eternity since it beat the nation’s No. 1 team. That all changed Wednesday night with a 6-3 win for the Golden Panthers (14-29) against top-ranked Miami (33-5) in front of 2,483 on the Hurricanes’ home field.
FIU led throughout the game and held Miami hitless for five-straight innings after starter Eric Horstmann gave up a pair of singles in the first. The Golden Panthers built a 4-0 lead before Miami bounced back for three runs in the seventh. UM carried the momentum into the eighth, loading the bases with two outs against reliever James Lajiness. Oklahoma 5 TCU 4 (12 innings)
FORT WORTH, Texas – For the second straight contest, the TCU Horned Frogs found themselves trailing heading into the ninth inning only to rally to tie the game. This time the Frogs needed three runs to tie the game at four, but Oklahoma broke the tie in the 12th inning to take a 5-4 victory Tuesday night at Lupton Stadium. The loss snaps the Horned Frogs’ nine-game winning streak and is just their first loss in the month of April. Read the rest of this entry »
