Texas Christian University hosts the 2009 Fort Worth Regional in what looks like one of the more wide open regionals of the tournament. The Horned Frogs meet the Wright State Raiders at 7 p.m. CT on Friday. The two teams take the field after game one of the tournament which will see the two seed Texas A&M Aggies take on the three seed Oregon State Beavers at 2 p.m. CT.
Play will continue on Saturday with the first elimination game scheduled for 2 p.m. CT, followed by the winner’s bracket championship game at 7 p.m. CT. The 2 p.m. game on Sunday will be the loser’s bracket championship game, and the 7 p.m. CT game will be the first championship contest. Read the rest of this entry »

INDIANAPOLIS — Wright State University junior Casey McGrew and Cleveland State University senior Josh Hungerman have been named Horizon League Baseball Players of the Week for the period of March 9-15.
A native of Delaware, Ohio, McGrew picks up Batter of the Week accolades after going 11-for-19 with five doubles, one triple, two homers, 11 RBI, five walks and no strikeouts in five games last week. Read the rest of this entry »

Texas A&M 8 Wright State 5
Sophomores Caleb Shofner and Brooks Raley had four hits each on Sunday afternoon as No. 1 Texas A&M rallied for an 8-5 win over Wright State and a series sweep before 3,207 fans at Olsen Field.

I was able to get away from work and make it out to Disch Falk Field by the 2nd inning. It was a great Friday Afternoon to take in a game of baseball. Texas open the game with Sophomore Chance Ruffin and UI-C counter with junior left-hander Chris Kovacevich.
The Longhorns manufactured one run in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Travis Tucker led off the frame with a single through the right side of the infield. A sacrifice bunt by Brandon Loy and a wild pitch pushed Tucker to third and he scored on a sacrifice fly by Brandon Belt.

DAYTON, Ohio – The 2009 baseball season starts in just four days and the Wright State Baseball team will look to start the season off with a bang as they travel to face the #1 team in the land, Texas A&M to open their schedule. INDIANAPOLIS — The University of Illinois at Chicago has been picked to win the 2009 Horizon League Baseball Championship in balloting by the conference’s seven head coaches.
UIC received 36 points and the maximum six first-place votes as coaches were not permitted to vote for their own teams. The Flames posted a 35-22 overall record and 17-6 Horizon League mark a season ago en route to their fourth conference crown in six years. Read the rest of this entry »
